April Fish on T Tuesday

~ APRIL FOOL!~

From Wikipedia:
"In 1508, a French poet, Eloy d'Amerval referred to a Poisson d'avri
(April fool, literally "April fish") a possible reference to the holiday.
In 1539, Flemish poet Eduard de Dene wrote of a nobleman who
sent his servants on foolish errands on 1 April.
In 1698, several people were tricked into
going to the Tower of London to 'see the Lions washed.' "

"The tradition in France, and in French-speaking Canada
includes attempting to attach a paper fish to the
victim's back without being noticed- poisson d'avril-
(literally 'April's fish) and is also widespread in
other nations such as Italy.  The Flemish tradition
is for children to lock out their parents or teachers,
only letting them in if they promise to bring
treats the same evening or the next day."
~Wikipedia

"In 1957, the BBC pulled a prank, known as the
Swiss Spaghetti Harvest prank, where they
broadcast a fake film of Swiss farmers picking
freshly-grown spaghetti.  The BBC were later
flooded with requests to purchase spaghetti
plants, forcing them to declare the video as a prank
on the news the next day."

I liked that wonderful leaf green color!
Hope you have a fun day...
and enjoy a good joke!

  1. I know when I was a kid, a long time ago.... we used to stick notes on people's backs, but only until midday, apparently the magic disappears then, lol

  2. Hello Dianne,
WOW, I had no idea of all these fun facts about today. I like them though, all of them harmless at least. We don't do any kind of jokes here but it is mine and hubby's anniversary which I forgot to mention on my post.
Have a great day and looking forward to seeing your journal thru the month.
Hope it's warm there for you, it's been nice these last few days. Yesterday was just like a spring day!!

  4. Once again I learned something new. I've seen that April Fishes quote before, but had NO idea where it came from, and why. I'm thrilled to learn something new today (and every day). Your fish are truly magnificent, too. You interpreted the fish so beautifully.

As you know, I'm a HUGE fan of collage. And that tea bag collage made me feel really happy, too. Now I'm off to see your alter (or is it altered) ego.

Thanks for sharing T today and teaching me about April Fish, too.
