I went to a praise band concert at
the Fulton County Fair in Ohio, to
hear my daughter play the djembe'
drum. I sketched this baby while
we were waiting for the concert to
start. The drum sketches were done
from some photos I took with my phone.
The baby was sketched with pen, then
watercolor pencil was added later.
Unfortunately I didn't get to sketch
any animals that day, but enjoyed the
concert, even though it was 'competing'
with the roar of the tractor pull!

You always tell a great story, whether it's with collage, paint, or stamps. My friend Joseph is a drummer. Although he owns at least one djembe', his main instrument is the steel drum and he owns every size Ellie Mannette makes, including the Quaduet, double seconds, tenor, guitar, cello, and bass. Ask your daughter, and she will probably tell you he is the inventor of the steel drum as we know it. Yes, I learned a LOT when Joseph lived in Wichita in my basement.

BTW, you may not have read about Darla’s home in the mountains. I saw video yesterday about the area. Her home there is completely gone, ravaged by fire. That’s one of the reasons why she didn’t share T with us this week. She was there when the fires started in that area, so was very lucky to get out.
