Mermaid Paper Doll

"Firelands Mermaid II" 2004
Art doll from watercolor paper.
Watercolors, ribbon, glitter glue, seashells.
Her hair is made from green ribbon that
has been braided, and seashells were painted
and glittered to form a "crown" of sorts...
all color is watercolor, and
seashells to cover her little breasts...
green pipe cleaners to connect sections of her body.

I was inspired to share her after seeing the
lovely mermaid posted by What's Up Roc.

On the back is a quote from "Alice in Wonderland:"
"...the time has come the walrus said
to speak of many things...of shoes and ships
and sealing wax, of cabbages and kings---
and why the sea is boiling hot and
whether pigs have wings..."

My son and daughter worked at a camp
for several summers, and one of their friends
joked that there were mermaids in the pond...
thus inspiring this mermaid. I hope she makes you smile...

  1. I am so in love with this paper doll. She is so lovely and her face is so sweet. Maybe we could do a paper doll swap sometime.
