Random Tuesday Views

I've been enjoying the views of our
Fall foliage in Ohio...

Linking this post to Bleubeard and Elizabeth's
T Tuesday blog hop,
where we share a beverage and a
variety of interests and activities.

This is a lunch in Panama City Beach,
Florida, where I enjoyed a beef pasty,
back in February. The restaurant was called
Eat My Pasty. The food was tasty,
but there were exactly two pieces of
meat in my pasty, along with the
potatoes and carrots. Not exactly plentiful.
I thought the flavor was very good, but the price
for what you received was high.  I
suppose we were paying for the novelty
of authentic (?) British food. It IS a tourist
kind of town, especially in March when the
college students arrive for Spring Break.
We were looking for something fun and
different...you don't know until you try it, right?
I think my beverage in this photo was water.
Maybe not exciting, but trying to be healthy.

Our food tray was lined with deli paper
printed to resemble a London newspaper.

I got a kick out of some of the decor in the
tiny restaurant. This Dr. Who quote is classic:

"People assume that Time is a strict progression
of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear,
non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball
of wibbly wobbly timey wimey...stuff."

The "No Muggles Beyond This Point"
was a sign over the door to the kitchen.
Fun!...I wondered how many of the
retired 'crowd' that are in residence during
the month of February
had any idea what these posters referred to...
the Harry Potter series of course!

Not sure if I showed the cover of my
Hobonichi Techo, that I finally finished.
It's painted fabric just wrapped around
the planner, secured with a bit of elastic.
It does the job just fine, without a
big price tag.

Here's a page in my Planner...yes, I drink
coffee from my Santa mug year-round!
I've been doing a challenge this month,
which gives a list of items to draw or
write about each day. #7 was Butternut
squash.  The 72 seasons of Japan is an
interesting app that I downloaded to my
Smart phone. Every week or so, a new
season from the ancient calendar of Japan
is explained. I am enjoying the illustrations
included with the articles, and reading
about the flowers, vegetables, and
seasonal fish each season.
Japan is blessed with weather that allows
Camellias to be blooming in November!

The U.S. election is today,
and I will do my duty and go vote.  I am
ready for the country to move on.
I hope you have a wonderful week,
and success in your creative endeavors!

  1. Leaves are beginning to change here, but as dry as it's been I don't think color will be as good as it is some years. I love the Dr Who and Harry Potter quotes. I can tell they are my people ;) I voted early and will be glued to coverage as long as it takes. I just love all the politics lol Happy T Tuesday :)

  3. too bad the pasty was somewhat disappointing-there definitely should have been more meat/filling. Gorgeous fabric color for your planner and of course I always love a glimpse at your fab pages! Happy T day!

  4. Wonderful art, as always, love the cover you made for your journal. The autumn colours in the foliage are great. That sounds like a fun restaurant you went to, sorry there wasn't much meat in the pasty! Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie

  5. Super fun post Dianne!
I would have asked for a couple of those deli sheets for journaling, and I DO know what a Muggle is, as I am a TRUE Harry Potter fan....*grin*
I love the journal cover and you pages are always so much fun to see.
Happy T-day......yes I did vote too!

  6. I think I'm going to send you a yard of white cotton and have you paint it for me (JOKING, but just a bit).

I love the random thoughts and the various things you chose to photograph when you were out and about. I'm a big Dr. Who fan, too. I agree with your assessment of the older crowd that frequents the establishment.

Your journal always makes me smile. I love your Santa mug and I bought one for summer so I could cool off when I drink from it.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful art, your great photos, and your water with us for T this Tuesday. I hope you don't have to stand in line too long today to vote. I saw last night our early voters were waiting over an hour to vote, so I was glad I went the day I did.

  7. The photos of the view are lovely and the journal pages are so full of interesting details. As for that pasty, you were for sure short of meat, even our 'Cornish Pastie' in the UK have to have a fair amount of meat to vegetables in them.
I loved the notices in the cafe especially the one about the Muggles.
    Happy T day.

  11. Lovely autumn colors. Sorry I'm late. Thanks for your kind comment.
Oh well, election day has been and gone. What a surprise! Love him or hate him, he will now be president of the USA....
About the pasty, in England they do scrimp on the meat in tourist places, but two pieces is a bit mean. Even in good old England we get a fair bit of meat in a pasty.
I always love reading your journal. I wish I could do that. I keep telling myself I would give it a try, but I never do.
But I will look at the 72 Japanese seasons. That sounds interesting.
    Belated happy T-Day,
    CU soon,
    Lisca
