Do you have a visual journal?
What do you put in it?
Scraps, junk mail, odds and ends,
magazine or book clippings,
drawings, thoughts...?
I am more than ready for Spring,
and so when I saw this illustration of
Spring Beauties in a vintage book, I
knew I would find a place for it in
one of my journals. It's my favorite
Spring flower. Reminds me of my
grandparents' farm, where they bloomed
in the yard and in the pasture.
You can put just about anything in your journal,
even your coffee cup...well, at least a drawing
of your cup. And if the rim comes out a bit
wonky, or the handle runs off the edge of
the page, that's ok. Enjoy the moment of
creation!

Happy Carnival!
I LOVE your visual journal. However, I love to make them, just not work in them. Don't ask why, I just don't. I realize I'm a contradiction, but I have thought about making one for me, then decided I would never work in it, so why bother.
ReplyDeleteHowever, as I said, I love yours. I love the drawings, I love the flowers. I even enjoy that mug.
Thanks for sharing it and your gorgeous journal with us for T this Tuesday. And to answer your question, it isn't spring yet, and it certainly feels and looks very wintery here today.
I love seeing the Spring Beauties scattered in lawns. They are such a pretty flower.
ReplyDeleteYour comment about putting your cup into your journal had me giggling! Your so RIGHT IT IS OKAY!!!
ReplyDeleteIs it spring yet?? Well, here it is, so I know it will spread east before long.
Happy T-day
Would you say a visual journal and an art journal are interchangeable terms? I'm not sure. I feel like a visual journal is more things you've found vs things you create. But I'm curious of another opinion. Esp since you create and find and write ... Perhaps it's a waste of time to get caught up in the words of it and just do it!
ReplyDeleteI love visual journals such as yours, but it's not something I've been able to start - yet.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourites is South of France by Sara Midas.
I really like your mug painting and want to thank you for your lovely comment on my post too. Happy T Day :o)) x
nice journal..I tend to journal with quotes and sayings that inspire me
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your visual journal and how nice to find the flowers that evoke such a sweet memory. Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteI think we are all on the same page with wishing for spring... enough of this winter and its sickness! LOL Your journal is lovely and the mug pic is too! Happy T Tuesday to you, Annette
ReplyDelete"Enjoy the moment of creation" yes I agree! Beautiful illustrations. I think many of us are anxious for Spring:) Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteYour journal is lovely--and I do love that cup!
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day! :)
Love all of your journal pages! I haven't worked in any of mine for a bit... all caught up in these fiber creations :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful journal pages. Love your mug painting!Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI have a sketch book really more than a journal. I keep it on the endtable in the livingroom. Rarely does a TV show hold my full attention.....So i scribble and draw and color with colored pencils with the evening TV show... Happy Belated Tday!! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy T today = Thursday as it turns out :-)
ReplyDeleteThat FBueller quote is a fav of mine...quotes and words/lyrics inspire me alot in my art journaling.
Your pages are wonderful Dianne...always!
By the calendar Spring is not that far away...hang in there.

Comment from Dawn (somehow it went astray in my email)
ReplyDeleteHello Dianne, Happy T Day late. Sorry, it's been a busy week and my computer is running slow. Think it's tired of the COLD COLD weather we are having.
So glad your in Florida right now and missing these abnormal cold temps we are having. Enjoy it!
I like the idea of a visual journal, kinda like a place to put paper things and ideas vs an art journal where you create in and maybe get messier in. Either way yours looks great!
Your tea cup is so CUTE!!
Be sure to check your mail when you return, might find a surprise if it didn't get lost in the snow, lol.
p.s. saw your comment about PL, you could start with the most recent ones first and work backwards. That's how I like to catch up. Pick your favorites and put the others aside, I'm doing my best not to put ALL my photos in this year. I was so happy when these 5 pages came together somewhat easy for me. Working on more this weekend and doing my best to keep it fun.
Take care friend, HUGS!!
I have little starts and stops at my visual journal. I usually end up tearing pages out and putting them up or sending them. Not sure if that counts as a cohesive journal! I love that first picture.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently trying to journal with altered collage, like teesha moore. It looks easy... it isn't!
