Thoughts for the New Year

Still drinking from my Santa mug...and wondering
when I will find the energy to take down the
Christmas tree.  Every year we joke about making
it a Valentine tree...
Linking up with Elizabeth's Tea Tuesday party
and having some green tea.

Best wishes to all for a
Happy and Prosperous New Year!

  2. Absolutely gorgeous art to help bring in the new year. And that cross stitch is simply incredible, but so are the flowers and swirls.

My trees are already put away this year. I didn't go overboard like I normally do, so it only took me a day to get everything back in their boxes. I know I've waited till after January 6 before, so it felt good to get the house back in order again.

However, a Valentine tree might be just the perfect thing. Next, you can decorate it for St. Patrick's day. Then you could keep it up for a May Day tree instead of a May Day pole. After that, it could turn into a Patriotic tree for July 4. Just when you think you might take it down, Halloween comes along and it becomes the Fright Night tree. It's not much of a leap to turn it into a Thanksgiving tree, and before you know it, you're decorating it again for Christmas (GRIN)!!!

Thanks for sharing these beautiful sentiments for the New Year with us for T this Tuesday. And may you also have a safe, joyous, artful New Year, dear friend.

  3. Amazing art, love the quote.

Years ago, when we bought live trees, I'd wait for DH to dispose of it.......he always took his time...to the point we joked about letting all the needles fall off and hanging Easter eggs on it. So, been there....done that...LOL

Happy New Year and thank you for all the wonderful comments you left on my blog through the year!

  4. Beautiful journal pages Dianne. The added stitching is inspired.
I totally love Elizabeth's idea that blossomed from your 'Valentine tree' comment :D

  6. Thanks for your comments on my post. I know what you mean about not that many people liking fruitcake. I can see why, since there are some pretty bad fruitcakes out there--some are stale, some are hard as rocks, and some have too much liquor. But there are some good fruitcakes out there, too, and my mini was one of them. It was freshly made by a bakery that I like, and it tasted just right.

I like your journal pages for the new year. The way you combined your drawings with collage is really pretty and eye-catching. Have a Happy New Year!

  7. Lovely thoughts to start the new year and, of course, more if your gorgeous art.

This is the first time we took the tree down early...while our daughter was still home to help carry all the boxes downstairs. I like Elizabeth's idea though!

    Happy New Year!

  8. What a cute Santa mug!

Taking down the tree is such a sad thing. Turning it into a Valentine tree has definite merit. ;)

  9. Hello and Happy T Day! These are so pretty Dianne, beautiful sentiments and flowers. Thank you for them.

We still have our tree up, will be up a bit longer. Last year it was January 17 I think, lol. Won't wait that long but no rush yet.
LOVE Elizabeth's idea on your tree though. I had a tiny tree on Kristin's dresser growing up and we decorated it each holiday and my mom made a tiny tree holiday skirt for each one. SOOO CUTE! I didn't use lights, just safe paper or felt type things. One Easter we found tiny eggs to hang for Easter.
The snow and wind are blowing here after a few days of nice weather. Stay warm and Happy New Year! Wishing you all that makes you happy and loved.

p.s. I love my photo of Sam too, it really is how fast the morning went. All the hours of shopping and wrapping and stressing and it was done in 10mts. sigh.
I am joining the fun with DLP too, think I have my journal picked out. Just doing the prompts. Looking forward to another year of friendship and art and T with you. Hugs!

  10. Beautiful pages with your artwork dear Dianne...the addition of the stitched fabric is oh so lovely too.
Taking Christmas down is what has trimmed my sails over the years...it is a lot of work and so pretty that it is hard to do oftentimes.
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year...thank you for sharing your talents and kind words.
I look forward to more sharing and inspiration in the coming year oxo
