Art Deco in the Art Journal

The woman's face was inspired by an
Art Deco painting (1925) by Tamara de Lempicka,
called
Self Portrait (Tamara in the Green Bugatti)Quotes are from the book
The Great Gatsby

The spread started from the stylized flowers
and grew from there...
sketched first in pencil,
inked with Sharpie xfine point marker,
color added with colored pencils.

  1. Your drawings and paintings never cease to amaze me. This era has always fascinated me, and I'm just now really appreciating it for its value and contribution to future decades. I'm certainly glad you revived it in this colorful piece.

Sorry I didn't get here sooner. Life has been a bit busy this week and is sure to get busier next week. I promise to be more on the "ball" when I get some of these commitments out of the way. I always appreciate that you visit and share your lovely thoughts with me.

  2. Oh, my. I have forgotten to use colored pencils, and LOOK at how GREAT they are! I really like these. Art Deco is a love of mine, too.

There's so much spam lately that you must moderate! i don't know how people can get away with no moderating.

That arch is really cool, too!
