Tags on T Tuesday

A bit of my Fake Journal 2014~
if you haven't visited
I've posted the Reveal, Parts 1 and 2.
I plan to post the final Wrap Up
next Tuesday, so stay tuned...

For T Tuesday, I decided to make
some TAGS.
The tag below was collaged onto
tan card stock, with scrapbook
papers and painted brown craft paper.
Words were cut from a book that I've
been using for collage, and for
painting over text.

Above, a tag cut from watercolor paper,
with paisleys drawn in Sharpie, then
watercolor washes added.

Reviving the red Panda mug,
enjoying my mocha coffee, and
joining Elizabeth today for
T Tuesday.  I think there is a party
going on over there...
I hope you will get up to
some creative fun by
visiting T Tuesday participants!

Triangles on Tuesday

'T'  could be for Triangle...
triangles could represent jagged teeth,
broken dishes, or happy pennants
flapping in the wind...

The Documented Life Challenge
for Week 7 was to:
Draw a shape. Repeat. Add color.

I decided on triangles...
when finished I thought that the
triangles seemed aggressive.
They create stars when intersected...
which was unintentional, but it's the
nature of the geometry.

OK.
 I couldn't resist making
some circles too.  They seem
much calmer.  It's hard to stop
adding doodles!

Painting Over Text

Permanent marker and watercolor
over book text...the rose above
was drawn while looking at
a vintage wallpaper pattern.

Just tear a page from an old book and
draw on it with a bullet tip permanent marker.
Then paint watercolor washes over the pen drawing.
I use my hair dryer between washes to dry it
more quickly. Add details with a fine tip marker
and white gel pen.

I've enlarged motifs from some of my
previous art journal pages, but the
possibilities are endless!

April Fool

April Fool's Day
is a day when people play jokes on
each other. The Roman festival of
Hilaria, held on March 25th, and the
Medieval Festival of Fools, on Dec.28th,
may be the beginnings of April Fools Day.

Iranians play jokes on each other on the 13th
day of the Persian New Year, which falls on
April 1st or 2nd, and many believe that it
is the origin of April Fool's Day.

A "fool" is also a term for a court jester,
who entertained the king and court.
According to Wikipedia, "The fool's status
was one of privilege within a royal or noble
household. His folly could be regarded as the
ravings of a madman, but was often deemed
divinely inspired."  Jesters served not only
to amuse, but to criticize their master
and mistress, or guests.

The jester could mock and freely dispense
insight, while a nobleman could find himself
in the dungeon for similar remarks!

laughter is to the soul."

Pink, Red and Yellow

Pages in my little pink journal, above:
gesso, craft acrylic paint, Sharpie pen,
and hot pink gel pen on pink paper.
(Click on the image for a larger view)

Beautiful pages received from Jan
for the Color Swap.
The colors I chose were red, pink,
and yellow.  Lovely interpretation!

Relief prints have a unique look
that I love,
and the paintings and collages
are full of texture.

Another great print on the tag,
this one in several colors.
Thank you Jan!

Art Journal Pages

Pages from the Pink Journal...
Whenever I hear the rock song "Barracuda"
I think of drawing something like this.
I finally tried it.
Not sure it is finished, as there
is still room at the bottom of the page!
I was tempted to draw an image
of the auto, Barracuda,
but cars are not something I like
to draw...we'll see.
What do you think? Does it need
something more?

Facing page of the Barracudas...
a medieval inspired dragon
and motifs.

Pages in the Scrappy Green Journal
that Elizabeth made, in which I am
creating art.
It has become heavily embellished
with texture, color, drawings,
and ephemera. It's getting quite fat,
so spaces between signatures
is a good thing to help compensate!
Vintage fabric in
the spread on the right is from a
dress of my grandmother's.

Another spread in the scrappy green journal,
the yarn on the right side is from another page,
but I just left it in the scan. Drawings from
Vogue magazine. Not sure why these shoes
fascinate me. Perhaps it's because I don't
know how anyone can walk in them. The boot
in the 'foreground' was on the page
that Elizabeth created.

Elizabeth included two pages in this journal
of a line drawing of a Campbell's soup can.
I don't know if it was intentional or not,
but I love them!  Andy Warhol art is
always entertaining, so I enjoyed searching
for appropriate quotes and
coloring the pages. Above, soup can
number two.

Soup can number one, shown in a
previous post.

Seth Aptor is going to feature

A Week of Pink Index Cards

"Roses and Leaf" (above)
As I was scanning my
'Index Card a Day' art work
I realized there was a lot
of pink. Not a bad thing,
but not intentional.

"Pink Moon and Spiral" (above)
The scraps that were on my table
were from the 'pink assortment.'
And I just went with what
was at hand.

"Self-Portrait" (above)
I am out of practice...
eyes are too close together
and the glasses are too small.
But there is a resemblance...

"Pink Circles" (above)
Painted papers, scrapbook papers,
watercolor.

"Pink and Green" (above)
Acrylic on fabric, painted papers,
and Sharpie pen.

"Dress Sketch"
Sharpie pen

"Grass Silhouette"
Painted papers and
card stock scraps.

"Collage with Heads"
Fabric, stitching, stamping,
painted paper, and a
commercial collage sheet image.
(sorry, don't know the source, it was a gift)

"Cultivate Community"
Sharpie pen, striped fabric,
collage paper, magazine clipping.

I filled up the spiral index card pad,
and these are loose cards. They definitely
are easier to scan.  Still haven't tired
of the challenge and am enjoying getting
in a quick art exercise each day!
Thanks to DaisyYellow for
the challenge and the prompts!
